I live in Northumberland . On a run to Edinburgh last weekend I noticed that ASDA were charging 114.7p for both petrol and diesel at every location.

When I got out of private practice I worked two days a week for two different business groups i.e. 4 days a week as a part time FD. The fifth day was spent doing short projects for other clients. Worked well for me but then I'd have considered most things to avoid 5 days of compliance work a week.

If your hard work and dedication has turned your practice into a valuable asset then your reward is to sell it for money. If you refuse to sell it then you will never be rewarded except in an introverted egotistic manner.
Turning a valued employee into a junior partner can also prove to be a shrewd investment in itself. More than one experienced accountant has started a series of separate practices, each one with a keen and enthusiastic junior partner. Not very different from franchising, is it?

You will need a licence from the highway authority for a pavement sign unless the pavement is unadopted. Not all authorities will grant a licence and may simply remove your sign.

You have my sympathy
A person who I thought was a friend, who I carried half a mile when he did his back in half way up a hill, attempted to sue me on the most trumped up of charges for an amount of money I would have given him if he had asked. That was twenty plus years ago and I have never forgotten how betrayed I felt and I doubt I ever will.
The perspective is that this was once with one person and I have had many good friends and colleagues before and since.
As my father used to say, Nil Carborundum Illegitium.

I know all too well
I know how difficult it is to get a job in any sector at any salary at my age (58). Earlier this year I came within two week of being redundant. At least I'm not far off drawing my 'gold plated' pension...justsotax wrote:

My private sector pension 'investment' with Equitable Life isn't going to help much.

Public Sector pensions
I'm a chartered accountant and work in the public sector. Yes the pension is generous but according to ICAEW I earn about 45% of the average pay for a chartered accountant. Swings and roundabouts.

Post this in Any Answers and you are much more likely to get a response.
Short answer is: Subsidiary accounts no change except for notes to statutory accounts. Holding company accounts, depends on how the transfer was effected. Group accounts, do you know about group accounts?
