I'll not countenance a word said against the OTS and the sterling simplification work they do.
Don't forget they did recommend and get abolished the 15p per day tax free luncheon vouchers.

So when I pay the gardener for cutting the grass at home do I deduct tax etc or is it just business to business. In which case another two tier system.
Crazy idea, just enforce the rules we have already.

Glad in a way in case there are any issues with the last few filings, mine included.
Seeing the VAT Returns zip through the software to HMRC it is so easy to see how HMRC can just change the law and ask for all transactions.
As the condoc dated 15 august 2016 states;
"HMRC will use the data in the updates to build a better understanding of each business. In turn this enables HMRC to more easily identify those businesses who deliberately do not comply with their tax obligations and to focus its efforts on them".
Quarterly could become monthly and monthly could become real time.
So a little bit of late good news folks but don't forget what is coming down the line. Oh and Capital Gains returns to be submitted within 30 days of completion from April 2020. We already do these for Non UK Resident Companies and believe me it can be very tight to report on time.
Good luck to all in the MTD trenches these last few days and I hope you enjoy a well earned break thereafter.

Your comment to Tom 7000 denigrates his spreadsheet solution whilst you have not even actually looked at it.
You must have special powers to ascertain how good something is without even looking at it so please share how you do it. I'm sure we would all love this special power that you magically possess.
Tom 7000 has been kind enough to share it free here on A/web and having actually got a copy (and actually looked at in detail) it is excellent.

There is a lot of great advice on this thread, so well worth picking out the bits that work for you.
You are definitely not alone in how you feel and there are many here, me included, who suffer/have suffered from clinical depression.
As we all travel through life it's about finding our own path which is entirely unique to ourselves. But we don't need to travel on our own. Life is not a destination, it's a journey and there is no point going through all this **ap if we don't enjoy the ride.
The work stress is never ending so for me the key is having a great life outside of work.
For you, only you know, so I wish you all the very best on finding your path.

HMRC job is to collect taxes so let's hope they can at least do their job. Ha, ha!!
Virtually 100% of our clients pay by DD as it's so easy once you file the VAT Return you can forget about it.
DD's are originated by whoever collects the money. This is HMRC so if the direct debit is not collected, this is HMRC's problem. Which we will spend ages sorting out.

The rules will probably change umpteen times between now and the 1st October so we are not writing to affected clients until September.
Yet more crazy VAT rules.

He could always become an MP!
Mind you they might have a word with him for not claiming enough.

Don't forget Xero are soon introducing Xero Tax (final accounts and tax) free for all where there is a xero subscription.

Just like NCIS which became SOCA which became NCA (and hundreds of other quangos), unless there is real change it's just like moving the deckchairs around on the titanic.
A big waste of time (and money) but at least it looks like you are doing something which is easier than actually doing something about the issues.
