That is a good question. My Client's father does not know but then everything that comes from him and my Client for that matter is always a bit baffling.....
I just want to check he is entitled to PPR as a favour to my Client. I have already said to him that I am too busy to be taking him on as a Client....
My angle is that not all the cost was claimed in one go. Not sure if that makes a difference, just this is the first time I have had a client sell goodwill which they have had tax relief on....
I had it last week and was on the phone to HMRC for an hour and a half trying to sort it out. They have confirmed it's a glitch at their end after an update in their systems. They said they cant change them over the phone and that I have to write in with a copy of the tax return...That's ok but we still have 100 left to do! In boxes 70 73 and 76 apparently the figures are duplicating their end but it wasnt at ours. We use SAGE by the way...
Strewth - this is getting ridiculous if hmrc are getting right grants wrong due to duplication.
One thing can i politely ask - you did enter the SEISS grants in the correct box on the return?
I.e specifically 27.1 short or 70.1 full sole trader pages
I am aware that hmrc are meant to be checking and meant to be adjusting for any returns where grants have been inadvertantly put in the "other income box". However i know for a fact they are not doing this double checking on all returns (if any?)
If you have used other income (or anywhere else other than specified boxes) and not SEISS grants received specific box i would recommend revising return to correct this issue even if strictly speaking its hmrc that have failed on their promise in this regard.
Yes correctly included on all 5 in box 27.1! On their calculation they then added it into the profits and then brought in the same SEISS figure again in box 27.1
Looking online again after logging into the new agents site it does not show the clients and also does not give an option to deregister. This Client was in MTD but then turnover dropped and came out anyway.
So logging in via the old log in you can see the client and it gives the 'deregister for vat' option, then gets you to log in again and if you at that point enter the old one again it says you cant use the service. If you use the new one it asks for the vat number and then you get to a client details screen with no deregister option but it does have a 'The change I want is not listed' option which if you follow it then the deregister option arises again with either online or post.
If you go for the online it then says 'agents cannot use this sign in'......
My answers
Yeah I agree. I think I will just tell him to find someone who can deal with it......

Thanks, exactly what I thought.....
Yep thats what I had used in my calculations until the heat affected me and I had this stupid idea..... ;-)
Yes £20k was claimed against profits each year.

Thank God its not just me then.....
Crikey another 6 incorrect ones today all double counting the SEISS grant.....

Must admit I have not been on here for a while as so busy. I did do a quick search but all the ones coming up were on VAT.
Good to know its not just me though!
