Depends how heavy your horse box is. Tesla have a model that tows 2250kg and Audi about 1800kg. You couldn’t go to far from home as charging out and about would be a challenge. But if it’s the local pony club or hunt etc. you would be okay.
Been running a BMW i3 for a couple of years. Went too early on going all electric. Our range on full charge in summer is 170 miles. Real life probably 150 miles. Winter you’re looking at 150 miles real life 120-130. Considerably less if motorway driving.
Monday to Friday it has been brilliant but if you want to go on a trip range anxiety sets in.
So my tips would be get a vehicle with a range nearer 250-300 miles.
You’ll need a drive if you want to charge at home. Preferably near to the house. We paid a electricians next holiday on laying bigger cable to the garage.
Fast Charging points are getting better and more available but a lot of service stations still only have one or two. Be prepared for a wait on busy weekends. It takes 40minutes to put 80% in at 47kw so if the person in front has only just arrived you’re in for a wait.
Running cost wise we save about £2000 against the cost of diesel and you can claim 45p per mile if using for business.
No congestion fees if daft enough to drive into centre of London.
On the whole we are enjoying owning the BMW and during the petrol shortage positively smug.
Not sure why you think my question is beneath you. As somebody who runs a small business I was interested to know if simplified tax would carry on but you obviously have more lofty concerns.
My answers
No it hasn’t changed. Those contracts will need to be revisited.
