Thanks John. Pretty much my thoughts. As a sole practitioner, often when a client asks a question to which you're fairly certain of the answer it's useful to have some further views for when you (usually) disappoint them

Presumably invoicing a monthly fixed fee and being paid by SO is OK?
What about when clients take longer than term or pay amounts on account with or without agreement?

No intention to sell
In this case there is no immediate intenstion to sell. The fear was that on deregistration the client would have to account for the vat as in the case of stock and other assets held.
However thanks for the heads up as the client will need to be aware if a sale is made before the he has the chance to deopt in 2018.

Ok that confirms what I thought. Again if the invoice is addressed to the company is it agreed that they can claim the VAT but the benefit is the gross figure?
