Yes there is additional time and when you receive a Gateway submission saying the submission has been received ( 3 of these for the same filing) then something is dreadfully wrong.
Tried to verify a new Subcontractor for a client and stilll waiting for a response into our software even though we have a sucessfull receipt from Gvnt Gateway, just rang CIS to verify on the phone and been told they would not do it as we had done it electronically and we must wait 24 hrs before ringing online help and then ringing them back.He REFUSED to give me his name, how about that for a cop out and then hung up on me saying I was getting aggressive!!.
It regrettably is one more problem we will have to put up with until someone in Whitehall gets a k*** up th a*** as we say, because no-one want to take any responsibility for anything, just pass the buck.
Also still waiting for an RTI response from Sunday morning, yes easier to come in then and do our multiple monthly payrolls as do not get broken off by clients coming in and the phone ringing
PS Their clock is now 1 hour out again after going to Summer Time, how is that for incompetence by the software people, been like that for years now and never gets sorted.
Yes I am in West Yorkshire, or West Riding if you are old enough to remember the "good old days" when we had shoddy mills.
Staff have 20 days off plus bank holidays plus we close for a good TWO weeks over Christmas, surprising how it concentrates clients minds when they try to get their tax returns/accounts to us for the Jan 31 deadline, we do not have half as many last minute ones now, and if extra time of is needed I am very flexible and have had no staff changes for I do not know how long.
It did cause envy when the firm I worked for took over an office in a nearby city and they did not get it off but we did.
When I started on my own I kept up the tradition but it seems to have died out in other firms, then again I work to live not live to work so take as much time off as I want but don't see why the staff shouldn't have time off.
12.15 and staff have gone, we finish at 12 on Friday, have done for 20+ years.
I usually spend a few minutes going through these post before I go home for the weekend at noon and am always amazed at the discussions that go on here, grow up some of you, these are supposed to be serious posts but of late they have plumbed the depths of despair.
For years now we have had an index book where the books are booked in under the clients name/partnership name etc and simply stick a cloakroom ticket to the box/bag , small jobs go into numbered storage boxes. and the date of receipt is recorded.
When a job is started it is signed out of the book by the clerk and signed back in when finished.
Wen the job has been reviewed and PAID I then sign that the books can be returned and when they are collected they are signed out.
£1 for a book of cloakroom tickets as and when and can't remember what the book cost as we have had it so long.( you have two sets of numbers per book and by the time you get to the end you can start again with the duplicate tickets)
Typical yorksireman watching the pennies, no need to spend thousands on software!!!
Had a call from these people this morning saying a local accountant had been crossed off their list and they urgently needed another in the area and would discount their fee to £540+vat, said I would think about it and was told they would send me an email with details on.
Did a google search and found this post.
Received an email from them which had conflicting information in therefore decided not to proceed.
Again said they were on top of Google search but did not find them first time they gave me details to type in to google but did work second time.
They rang me and could not answer question, just went silent and did not answer when I spoke, not on the scipt as previous post mentioned, so hung up on them.
Client was not impressed I had a client in early in the week and whist talking about internet filing tried to go into the Revenue site to show him how it worked, as we had filed his Tax Return by Internet. His response when I told him the site was not available is not printable, but we will try and file his Return when they eventually get their act together, hopefully before 19 May!!
My answers
I just get them to sign and date the Return then scan the TR8 back to me and post the original back
RTI /CIS
Just received another automatic response from Gvt Gateway for a CIS verification, two replies timed at 9.26 and another at 10.20.
The Gateway Transation Engine is obviously running out of control, call ion the Fat Controller!!

Try Digita
Been using all Digita software for years, they actually send out an invoice and you pay before the licence renewal date and do it all online.
I seem to remeber they do a migration service, give them a call.
