When i use to lecture , the institution had an arrangement to use "sage one" for AAT students to practise their paper - " using accounting software". With this software they were able to reset everything to Zero except the name of the organisation. Every student was given 12- 18 months license. In short , your institution will have to make this arrangement with the software providers .
Taking the first few steps can be daunting , make sure you decide on your market , who your customers are and above all how to attract your ideal clients. these can be challenging, so make sure you have at a minimum a basic marketing plan. remember you will be your own boss so if you don't make money , there is no bread at home
I have received a few of these for my ltd director clients , I intend to keep filing anyway. what happens if they have dividend?....I don't think this is a good move by HMRC.
The assumption here is that your client despite being in employment elsewhere is "trading " and i believe this was the basis she was given the grant from the foundation . I am assuming she would have submitted some paper work for the grant . if yes , in what capacity did she applied for the Grant ? - request for this grant doc and see. what other income apart from employment has she got? who are the beneficiary of the project or is it a personal project?
