Late to this but if you don't document the reduced pay you are likely to be in breach of the employment contract and if you do document it you are likely to give HMRC ammunition for tax avoidance. Let your MD work out which government department they are scared of most!!
Think HMRC are going to have their work cut out validating all the claims before processing payments by Tuesday. They must have some criteria for checking claims but for the life of me I can't work out what they are....

Avoiding the old joke about husbands not doing any work at home (ask my missus) I would have thought this shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not asking him to do any of your company's work. How HMRC would police this is anyone's guess but if you had another employee you would probably furlough them with no issues. Good luck.
