My "rental" spreadsheet follows the principle of that used by our spreadsheets used for filing VAT data by digital link.
The spreadsheet is made up of monthly tabs for income & expenses - the client will use this as a bookkeeping system. The data that is inputted by the client is then automatically used on the "Qtrly report" tab (this is protected so they cannot [***] it up!).
I have one particular "family" that I look after that have many properties between them - each property is split differently between the family members - I'm quite chuffed with myself that I have designed something that will cater for all members ... all showing on the "Qtrly report" tab.
As far as I can see this should comply with what is required.
The majority of our clients use Excel and so we have designed a spreadsheet for them to use with the aid of bridging software (assuming this will be available!).
A spreadsheet for our "rental" clients has also been designed - catering for up to 35 properties & 6 taxpayers - again, bridging software should do the trick.
A bit of a marathon task but helps me sleep at night now!
