We use Absolute & have done for about seven years after we left IRIS because of fees.
It is generally easy to use has good interfaces but doesn't do everything on tax, you need to keep your brain switched on..
Support is generally of a high standard although sometimes things are referred back to the developer Dave Forbes.
Not everybody's cup of tea but complete suite for what you say your needs are about £2500 + VAT instead of £12000

Several years ago approached by the owner of my local chinese takeaway, he had a HMRC investigation & his accountant was ignoring him.
Turned out the accountant took away a blank cheque made out to VAT a/c & then texted the amount of VAT to him.
What actually happened was that the accountant had a bank account with VAT in the title & paid the cheque into that account for the amount texted & submitted the VAT return for a considerable amount less & paid that amount.
What had happened he got greedy & HMRC thought my client was underpaying, we reached agreement with HMRC for the last six years in the region of £50K for lost tax & VAT.
Police initially were helpful & did interview the accountant who said he was taking fees but advised that as my client was sole complainant & his English was not brilliant he would make a poor witness in court, that they would have to report the loss of tax to HMRC.
This accountant acted for a number of similar establishments who obviously weren't going to come forward because of the risk of costing themselves similar amounts if they did.
The great British justice system at work.

It would certainly give HMRC an excuse, dividends are a return on capital, wages are paid for services rendered, wages are subject to PAYE & NIC as is disguised remuneration .
In an obvious case I would expect HMRC to take thar view, but of course if the amounts are coparitively small it may not come to their attention

My understanding is quite clear, rental income must be allocated 50:50 even if the underlying ownership is different, in that case a form 117 can be submitted electing that rent is allocated in the underlying ownership proportions.

It seems to me that HMRC do everything they can to disadvantage agents & to cut them out of the loop.
Their reasoning on MTD is laughable, reputable agents not only lokk after their clients by making sure the HMRC doesn't bully them but also saves them from themselves leading to more accurate tax submissions.

And still expects it to be cheaper because of his efforts.

The amounts are several thousand pounds & the supplier has refused despite being shown HMRC correspondence.

I tried to be an Absolute Accounting user
As an IRIS user in a small practice I was very attracted by the price for what you apparently get. I arranged a demonstration and downloaded the demo version ready to save time. A very pleasant girl contacted me, made contact with my computer and bingo it wouldn't run properly. Initially it was because some files were missing, she downloaded again ( I later tried to reinstall and again found an initially incomplete download) and made sure the file count was complete and tried again. It was trying to run in Safari despite the fact that IE8 is the default browser( I do generally use Safari but leave IE 8 as default). Initially there seemed to be enthusiasm to solve this problem, with help we stopped it trying to run in Safari and made it run in IE8 but then it refused to navigate to the particular function, identifying the file to load and then reporting 'navigation cancelled'. I was told the problem would be referred to the developer and heard nothing more until I chased. I have now been advised that it must be my computer although I don't run any exotic software and my Norton Security doesn't report any problems, Like most people I have had specific issues in the past which I advised of to help but these have always been resolved . The last comment was ' we are not microsoft engineers' which didn't seem very helpful! I am now having to look elsewhere to spend my money having been made to feel very unimportant.
