I've had a phone call. Had the letter, then the call. I was asked about office procedures. I explained new client procedures and annual checks. She asked if I knew the procedures to report. All in all quite pleasant. Got the impression she wanted to assist and inform rather than catch me out. Gave me a few pointers and web addresses for certain guides and that was it.
My letter from the ministerial correspondence unit says that there is a tax gap of £6.5b that is "largely but not exclusively by businesses that do not use agents". So what's the answer, try and promote more people to do it alone using software they are not familiar with. If it wasn't so serious I would laugh!
