Does this mean that HMRC have given up trying to fix the errors, or are they going to correct their software at some later stage? If the latter, maybe we will hold off filing the few clients we have that fall within these criteria.
Also will HMRC set the clients that need to file on paper as having to file by October 17 or allow up to January 2018?
We inherited 3 Lunn clients and I must admit after cleaning up 6 years of the fraudulent mess they created, I was amazed at the scale of the cosmetic accounting they used. It cost these clients the best part of £20,000 to settle everything. However they were smart enough to take our advice to settle and so the penalties were minimal, despite Lunn still emailing them to assure that everything was in good order and not to settle.
Question - does anyone know if there is a chance of claiming against Lunn PI? I am not sure whether PI covers Lunn's fraudulent accounting. Anyone have success on this.
That is fine for downloads, BUT upload speed is about 250K - try using Cloud storage at that speed. MY IT guy estimated that it would take a minimum of 12 DAYS to back up our server remotely !!!
I prefix this by saying I am a New Zealander and not a UK political animal and am not trying to make a political point.
Mr Osborne can make pretty pre-election promises about superfast broadband roll-out etc. But in my area of West Sussex, the simple fact is that the town is split into two sections. My home has the BT Infinity facility with fibre-to-cabinet (ftc) and has had it for about two years, but less than two miles away at my office we are still stuck with the old set-up of 2mbps. Osborne can promise voucher schemes etc. etc. but until the government can get BT and other providers to install the needed ftc infrastructure, he is just talking hot air. I have still been unable to get a time scale for this service to be made available at the office which is only about a mile from the Exchange!!!
Iris programming Iris Payemaster could not even cope properly with the original Vista based our my experience of the revised programme supposed to allow Vista compatability.
There are chronic database conflicts causing crashes on payroll clients 2-3 times a day. At this time we are stuck with Iris, but I would not reccomend PAYEMaster to my worst enemy. Shows how much value to place on Iris's MS certification.
Address Errors I emailed the Treasury about the address fiasco and received a request to email them the UTRs of any affected clients so that their "IT experts" could try and track down the "glitch".
If anyone feels charitable, they could sent just the UTRs and brief message to:
John Proctor Head of Performance & Governance PAYE, SA, NIC Process HM Revenue & Customs South West Wing Bush House Strand London WC2B 4RD 020 7438 6158
Apparently without UTRs for at least some of the affected tax payers, their IT boffins have not got any idea as to where to start looking for the problem.
Upgrade or not upgrade - Vista As far as I am concerned, being responsible for the office IT set-up, is not whether Vista is better or not. It is whether it is fully stable or not.
The simple fact is that until the early bird buyers have have a year or more to identify all the bugs, I will not touch it. New MS releases are notorious for bug fixes and patches coming out in a steady stream within weeks of release.
The other issue is that, as we are heavily reliant on bespoke software (I am sure most practices are), and until I get a categotical statement from these software houses that they are fully compatible with Vista/Office 2007, I will not touch Vista.
We took a risk with XP, because a year after it had been released, one of our supplies still warned that they could not guarantee compatibility with XP/Win Server 2003. However we got lucky and only minor problems occurred, But I am not going to take that risk again.
Hopefully it will not take the (unnamed) software house two years to test Vista this time around!!!
A stand alone system is one thing. A network is a completely different ballgame.
The IRIS Saga Like many others, I have been through the stress (and costs) caused by the PAYEMaster fiasco.
Despite Tim Good's statement, I cannot see how a company can viably market and develop two competing products, which on the face of it IRIS plans to do.
An approximately 500% hike in licence fees for PAYEMaster in 4-5 years is a warning of things to come with PTP, assuming that it continues to be marketed.
I have no doubt that Mr Good's statement has been made in good faith (no pun intended) but he no longer has control.
I have been advised today that there is no plan to increase the price of the 2007 products compared with the current year by PTP Technical Director Paul Onions, and I am saving that email with great care, just in case.
It is a matter of wait and see. You never know. IRIS may have learned from the PAYEMaster own goal!!!
64-8 chaos I doubt very much whether any form redesign will make a difference.
With 64-8s sent to the CAA team, the agents no longer get notification of client UTRs when there is a new registration. The On-line system is a mess with the local revenue office confirming that we are registered as agents, but the on-line system will not permit us to access the SA on-line information. It is a case of 2 or 3 separate IT systems, not properly integrated to a common database for items such as agent details. It really is an absolute pain, involving hours of wasted time to sort these comflicts out.
Iris Acquisition Based on the Iris fiasco over the past few months, do ERNIE users know what they are likely to face, apart from massively increased fees to pay back the purchase costs?
Since Iris bought Freeway PAYEmaster, costs for us have gone up by almost 600% with no increased functionality and major disasters over the past 3-4 months.
