Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy Teb 10.1 because I regularly need to fly to meetings and the laptop is just far too heavy.
I went for the 10.1" Galaxy Tab with 64Gb storage, WiFi and 3G.
I have the "Business 1" contract with T-Mobile (also uses Orange cells) for my mobile phones and I looked at all the mobile phone providers for the best option for a 3G sim for my Samsung.
The best deal for that was from T-mobile. It's not linked to my contract exactly but it is under the same account and so is all on the one bill.
It is the Mobile Broadband Sim Only at £15 / month and is on a rolling 30 day cancellation option. You get unlimited browsing and emails with 5Gb/month download allowance.
You can upgrade to a 10Gb download allowance if you need it and I believe that costs £25/month.
Here's the link to the deal.
Hope that helps.
Microsoft Office 365 is secure and for £4 per month you get a huge range of services plus 10Gb of secure starage that you can access from anywhere with an internet connection.
My company year end is 30th of May.
My accountant loves it because it gives the opportunity to vote dividends into the new personal tax year.
Not being an accountant I don't know how else it affects his work.
Are you sure?
I recently met with a Santander Bank Manager and he informed me there were no free business current accounts anymore.
It seems you're right Shirley, obviously they no longer do the same account that I have. I assume that they must have stopped new free accounts now.
I'd better keep this one going!
I am using Santander and it is FREE.
Can't fault Santander
I can heartily recommend Santander.
Their on-line application is quick and simple and they have recently changed on to the "fast payment" system so there's no more waiting 3 days for payments to get to your suppliers.
Their on-line banking is easy to use and you have the security of "one time password" system for setting up new beneficieries.
The bonus is that it's completely FREE, provides a Visa Debit card and you even get interest on any positive balance in the account on a monthly basis.
All in all, I think Santander are brilliant.
Mouse & Keyboard
can you use an external mouse with an iPad? I didn't think you could.
I was thinking of Android rather than iPad because the Apple O/S is too restrictive.
@ShirleyM The problem with rubber rollers is three-fold.
The rubber does deteriorate over time. The rubber picks up minute dust particles which fill in the "pores" and clog the surface of the rubber making it smooth.A lot of paper that has been printed picks up very small amounts of silicone oil that comes from the printer. It is particulalry noticeable on high-volume laser copier/printers where they often have a silicone impregnated fuser roller, to stop the toner sticking to the roller. This causes silicone to be transferred to the paper and subsequently is deposited on rollers when the document is scanned.
Sorry if you weren't really interested in the background but I thought it might help.
External keyboard and mouse
For me, they are an excellent idea and much lighter if you are travelling a lot.
However, I would always consider using an external keyboard and mouse as without they are just a little tricky to use efficiently and quickly.
Cleaning pickup rollers
Over £50 for replacement rollers .... I did consider taking some sandpaper to the old ones though to see if that would make them last a little longer, but overall ... going paperless has saved us loads of dosh, loads of time, and loads of space too!
We were considering subletting half of our office now we need so little space but we have to consider the confidentiality aspect of our business and not sure I want the hassle!
I'm not familiar with that particular scanner but if the pickup rollers are rubber, you can clean them with "Dry Cleaning Fluid" that you can get in the detegrant section in the larger supermarkets.
So long as it doesn't have any oil in it, it should be fine.
Pour the "Dry CLeaning Fluid" onto a cloth and gently rub the rollers to remove the silicone oil that is picked up from the paper.
N.B. MAKE SURE YOU USE RUBBER GLOVES as the fluid will take the oil out of your fingers.
Another option is to use Cellulose thinners (Hammerite do it) but you need to be very careful with this not to get it near any plastic parts.
