I think andysomething might be glad to see the back of this post!
And I think there is a risk anyone who looks it up could be misled by how inappropriately I have worded the question.
I now know the correct question and indeed the correct answer, primarily because the responses on here inadvertently shoved me in the right direction (simply by telling me how stupid my question was).
I could edit the original question, and answer it correctly myself for future readers but that would clearly cause a kafuffle!
Anyway, I have just noticed there doesn't appear to be a delete button!!
I gave as much information as I thought would be needed, and to be honest as much as I have.
The only reason I said, "please no guessing", is because tax is an important matter and I want to be correct/legal. Often you get answers that start, "I'm not sure, but I think...", and that just adds to the confusion.
People don't have the answer but are kind enough to try and help. So the input is often well meaning but ultimately not helpful.
Although I am happy to remove the word troll with immediate effect, I just didn't want you to think I thought that was an appropriate recompense. Consider it removed!
I am very sensitive to underlying meanings and I think by 'Good', you mean, 'Bad'!
But I only changed the OP because it was so badly presented (a few people mentioned that!). And I think the only other changes were where I've corrected my spelling or grammar!
I plan to delete the OP because it offers ab-so-lutely no benefit to other users or contributors, but given that it caused so much trouble, I feel obliged to let everybody vent off for an appropriate period. Punishment for making such a bad debut post.
Not sure there'll be any more but it seems to be a good site for advice so I will stick around and observe quietly!
Aah bless...won't be drawn in, though I think we'd both enjoy it.
See, I checked your profile to see who I was dealing with and I found your questions and answers, sensible and occasionally interesting. What little I know about you isn't worth name calling.
I'll settle for expressing my satisfaction that I seem to have helped you find your Mojo!!
I have a fully paid up accountant, £1200 a year. And I am satisfied with the service, but her answer to my question confused me, so I put the same question out to other informed people. I didn't even need an accountant to answer necessarily, another contractor with the same experience would do.
As accountants I fully understand why you wouldn't want to offer free advice to tightwads. Experience costs money.
And I did frame the question badly, no doubt, and that is why my accountant's answer confused me. The responses on this thread at least helped me see that, and ultimately, resolve the issue.
Truly, I do have an accountant, I'm with TAP. I genuinely don't know why anyone would risk not having one.
And in a fabulous twist of fate, the fairly blunt but universal response I got ("your question doesn't make sense"), made me think about how I worded the question to my accountant and she has come back within minutes with a comprehensive, complete, and remarkably simple answer, to my amended question.
I wasn't exactly covering my tracks with elephant dung when I changed the company name, it just felt that there was no need to post info about my business...or me for that matter.
Out of interest, a piculet is a small woodpecker like bird. My accountant always used to pronounce it Piculay, he thought it gave us chic! It didn't!!
And I think it's fair to say, realising the ripples my other post caused, I have apologised a lot and only not taken it down because I think that would be unfair on those who have responded, harshly or politely.
My answers
Please God tell me I am alone in my confusion!!
