The Business Edition of Money Manager 7 by MoneySoft has a range of features to assist in the day-to-day financial management of your business, including MTD and price is £100 plus £20 Vat or £120 incl VAT. Not a cloud based solution which appeals to me as does not place control of Accounting in hands of BigTech Companies pushing their Cloud Software and prices through the roof.

I do not understand this at all. Leaving EU means that instead of having to pay the costs for maintaining two bureaucracies namely the UK and the EU all business in UK will now only have to pay for UK bureaucracy also there will no longer be a yearly subscription to be part of EU club of £10's of billions. Also we will have complete control over our tax affairs including being able to reduce taxation levels without EU interference. In my view just some more scare mongering by political elite, establishment, the BBC , Main Stream News Media nothing changes.

More than 90 % of our politicians have no real life business skills and never worked in the real world. Most politicians are very skilled liars and rarely know the difference between fiction and reality. Most of their political decisions are frequently to enhance their own pockets one way or another. I have never met a poor politician because my guess there are none. Most polticians are a drain on the taxpayer and rarely if ever do what their constituent voters really want.

Cloud computing is going nowhere until they figure out how to work both offline and online by sysncronising the data if you loose the internet. Most businesses are exposed to huge risks just look at all those fibre optic cabinets which are in plain view they even have stickers on them saying get your fibre optic here. What happens if they are damaged or vandalised the internet will be unavailable for months. The consequences for a small business could be very expensive.

If you use the correct logic and build in check formulae into spreadsheets they can be a very powerful tool. I use pivot tables almost all the time to ensure that mistakes in adding up totals are virtually eliminated. If one learns how to use the Power Pivot tool available in excel one can always obtain information which Accounting systems are not capable of producing or providing. Accounting systems are always dependent on the quality of the data put into them. Using Macros and visual basic used in conjunction with accounting systems make spreadsheets a really invaluable tool for accountants. Many of the online accounting systems in the cloud use data input by non accounting people and business owners and I have seen that the quality of the data is often very poor and not logical because there are is no data validation built into these online accounting systems. If one has access to the database tables behind most accounting systems spreadsheets are really powerful tools available for accountants and indispensable providing underlying data is correct and this is always the case ,so spreadsheets are here to stay for accountants and the accounting and auditing profession..

I am also a finance professional and I have a home in France and have owned the property for nearly twenty years in an area of France which has a very strong farming community and contrary to Melanie C's comments all of my French friends think the UK are quite astute in voting for Brexit as do our Spanish and Italian friends. They all view the EU as undemocratic and not good for their businesses.

Cloud Accounting - Online and Offline
I think there is a big flaw in the Cloud Model for SME's because I am not aware of any software providers who allow for both online and offline accounting if the internet is not operational for any period.
I am not talking about a natural disaster as everyone will be affected but a situation where a fibre optic cabinet or the cable carrying your internet connection has been vandalized and will take several days or weeks to repair when your company has a very busy period say during the busy Christmas period with tight deadlines for deliveries. What happens then, because your accounting system needs to produce bills of materials to manufacture small items and you need to maintain stock control involving several staff members ? You cannot uproot your business to the nearest internet connection not possible even for a small business. You will need a local network with access to all your data. This ability to work both offline and online needs to be addressed first before any SME will adopt a cloud solution fully.

Murphy never heard of Laffer Curve
Murphy has never hear of the Laffer Curve. All socialists do not like what the Laffer curve predicts. I know for a fact that because of high rates of tax in France and Italy presently the black economy is booming with no Tax going to the exchequer. Look at both economies they are on the skids
Britains economy on the other hand is in a much better state.

How about intoducing flat rate tax and simplifying taxation
I have long held the view that introduction of Flat Tax will simplify Taxation and enable HMRC to spend more time on compliance and enforcement matters with a simplified system. I know from experience in a place like France and Italy which have high taxes there are flourishing black economies to avoid taxation especially with SME's. The higher the taxes the less the exchequer collects.
Seems like the EU commission has never heard of the Laffer curve and perhaps neither have any of our political masters.
