The senior partner where I used to work periodically burst into someones office shouting and screaming ( although to be fair, never swearing ) at some innocent staff member. The time I remember well was when the practice had a visit from their governing body, who had queried why the firm had given a clean audit report on a set of accounts. He laid in to the senior who had been in charge of the audit: his parting shot being " I told them I had nothing to do with it, I only signed the audit report'. After that I couldn't really take him seriously.
My first job was at that firm, training was non-existant and I was struggling to reconcile a client's bank account. The senior in charge was in a mood about something and came over to my desk, swore at me and then slapped the side of my face, calling me ******* useless. Later that day I meet him in the corridor with no-one else about. I grabbed him by the throat, pinned him up the wall and told him if he ever touched me again he'd be through the window ( we were on the second floor ). Strangely he never bothered me again and left the firm shortly afterwards to work for his father.
Both of the bullies were actually inadequate men who didn't know any other way to behave.
As many have said, the core product ( tax return production ) is first class. Unfortunately the rest is becoming increasingly average and more expensive as the years pass. My personal gripe is with the accounts production module, which doesn't appear to have been updated since it was first introduced. The final accounts have so many frustrating formatting errors which I'm sure could be corrected in a few minutes ( rogue underlining, headings sometimes in CAPITALS, sometimes in lower case and sometimes in Lower Case ). The work round is to import to Word and make adjustments - fine, but it is supposed to be an automatic accounts production program. Can't help but think that they are neglecting what should be part of the core product whilst trying to sell themselves to the larger firms.

Still doesn't work for us
They originally tried to "upgrade" us on March 16th. It didn't work.
Tried again April 12th. It didn't work.
We can't file tax returns and already have sub-contractors knocking on our door expecting tax refunds.
They also told us on one of their webinars that we can no longer import accounts from 3rd party software.
This is not an upgrade this is a downgrade !!!
We have used this software for many, many years but are now frantically looking for a replacement.
Absolute joke.
