These fines are derisory for one of the big accounting firms and are simply then paid for by their PI insurance. It is about time the regulator had the power to fine accounting firms based on a percentage of overall revenue based on the severity of the breach. Then they will take these issues seriously and take action to ensure that audits are carried out robustly.
I am no great fan of Gary Lineker (not that comes into it) and yet it seems clear to me (certainly since 2015) that he was working for multiple "customers", which then does not fall within IR35, given that this is a genuine company customer-supplier relationship. My understanding was that IR35 was set up to prevent the situation where a person "contracts" to a company and their entire or almost of the company's income is derived at regular intervals from this single source, like an employment situation. This is clearly not the case here. Move on HMRC.
Very interesting article.
It always amazes me that celeb chefs put their names to restaurants where they cannot control the quality of the food being served as it is their name/brand on the line.
Fine if chefs want to have one or two restaurants where they can keep a close eye on the quality, though nothing like this. If I was Jamie, I would be more worried about his name being tarnished by the quality of what he has created than anything else.
'They want these moved into a new world environment,” said Checkley. “But after that, it’s very much up to developers.”'
Here speaks someone who is allowing the technology to drive the way it works instead of working out what is needed by customers and asking the developers to implement that.
My answers
Fined, though derisory considering the damage they caused.
Prosecution for fraud? (SFO) Struck off as being able to be directors? (CH)

That is outrageous! Did they make you aware that there would be a cost? Otherwise, that would likely be illegal.
Judging by how well street food is going down at markets here in southern Ireland, I think you might be right!
