having read all the papers from hmrc i cant see how i put it as a P&L item as the deemed payment is never "paid" plus it says "the deduction is only allowable in calculating the taxable profits and it does not affect companies tax computations for other purposes". i dont want it showing in the P&L as it will distort the figures.

just another thought!! would it be ok if the wife lends the daughter the money on interest free loan? then there would be no "income" for the wife and the daughter would own the house as her main residence.

you must stop 20% on all monies except materials, so therefore you must stop 20% on travel expences. but the sub contractor does not have to give a breakdown of the materials supplied and most of mine do a % of the job so it takes into account consumables etc!!

thank you both for you answers very much appriciated. The reasons for the delay has been the banks no wanting to loan the extra finance.

sorry for not getting back straight away! they have never lived in the house but would it be beneficial if they did live in it for a while (3 years) and rented out their other house (no cgt on last 36 months of house if rented?). i think they would do this as the tax is around 12k
