The employee was the father of one of the Directors.
I have seen the payments go through the company bank account, and are consistent with months 1 and 2. So they were genuinely paid. Reading between the lines I think the payroll provider has noticed they have made an omission and made the correction in month 12, rather than amending the previous months 3 to 11.
I agree, not entirely sure why either the employer/employee had not picked up on it during the tax year.
We as new agent have no responsibility over the previous R&D claim.
Our new client has been naïve and did not have an engagement contract with the third party.
My concern is that the client has paid for a service which they have no details of and if and when an HMRC enquiries occurs they will have their pants pulled down
