I think directors may be able to claim this. Sunak was quite clear when he referred to 'all employees'
But I agree could be anomolous. A director on basic wage £600 pm (because he takes most out via dividends) so furloughs and gets £480. He only does it one month in April because he's keen to get back to work. he then pays himself as normal. He can claim £1000 now too ??
We need to stop this bullying on Accounting web. It is entirely needless for Truthsayer to say ''One wonders why the OP could not find this himself. It's two very obvious clicks from the HMRC homepage.'' Please show more kindness at this time.
Also:
1. Its not clear that deferral does not apply as many pay their vat before 30 June.
2. The link that Truthsayer provided does not specifically refer to 31 May 2020 quarters and this apparent contradiction
So its a perfectly reasonable question
We need to contact our professional bodies asap to get this sorted. I see it as a back door attempt by HMRC to
1. get taxpayers to set up and use an on line account - something they have been trying to do for years
2. side line agents - also something they have been wanting to do for years
This has provided HMRC with a golden opportunity to do both. Christmas has come early for HMRC
Whilst its relatively easy to place a value on the JRS claim process the self employed grant is harder as HMRC are doing the calculations. Do we charge a fee for checking them ?
My answers
still seems to be down re client authorisations ?
