I also can't help thinking this is a disingenuous attempt to force taxpayers to set up on line accounts something hmrc have been after for years and exclude agents in the process, something they also always wanted to do
But you will still have to answer endless questions like , what is my UTR, why don't I qualify for the grant, is £x grant correct etc etc all for no reward. At least if agents did the claim we could charge a nominal sum to reflect our time input
We have had to submit a large number of requests for authorisations to HMRC as we are filing only agents in the main . We did this over a week ago but so far none of the clients have received the requisite code. I’m concerned this may be because there is no one actually at Hmrc to send them out. Has anybody else had this experience

What happens if they are still trading in 19/20 (and beyond) and actually doing better now - eg delivery drivers/pharmacists/NHS suppliers/hand gel suppliers . Will they still get the grant ?
The reality is that MTD for Vat was really something and nothing - quite easy to accommodate especially with bridging software. Having to submit 4 times a year is going to place an impossible burden on small businesses
what I am perplexed about is that unlike furloughing staff this seems to be a grant paid even if the self employed person continues to work. So would say delivery driver whose work may boom during the crisis or at worse be similar to normal be able to claim ? these people could end up better off than before. I'm wondering if there would be a clawback if your income exceeded 12 x £2500 in 19/20 ? (a bit like child benefit)
Sorry to say but I feel that of late the podcasts have become a bit woolly and lacking in technical detail. There's too much idle chatter and not enough meat. Yesterday I was listening to episode 60 (above) and it ended and as I was listening in the car and couldn't switch it off it tripped to episode one (around 5 years ago with entirely different presenters) and it was a lot more informative. It was talking about RTI, auto enrolment etc so obviously quite dated but the contrast in quality of information was stark

I've been thinking about this too. I guess we need to see exactly what's involved first
