I've got to say I'm shocked at how unhelpful the initial question and the responses are. And how much information is wrong. I'm glad I'm not a client of yours.
Of course clients are asking different questions, but perhaps if you gave them the answers first they would have more knowledge.
We're sending out daily updates, sometimes more than once a day.
We spent Monday and Tuesday calling everyone affected. Well be doing this again this Monday.
We have a private FB group that we update live as announcements come out.
We're also running weekly webinars to give advice and support, answer questions and provide a safe community.
And I've cleared my diary to offer 30 minute action plan calls with clients.
And free worst case scenario short term cashflows.
Sorry if I sound grumpy but I feel passionately that it's up to us to support our small businesses. And do everything we possibly can to give them correct and timely information, and help them make the right decisions.
Its exhausting but now is the time to step up!

I've also had them all but never signed up. I only opened them as I was curious to see how low he'd go. Anyone else take offense at his offer of funding a child in Africa in return for signing up? I'm sure that's not in the spirit of GDPR at all.

From attending VAT inspections for clients, the inspectors definitely want all sales in box 6 of the return, even if they're outside the scope. If you're using accounting software, I would suggest seting up a new tax code for your outside the scope sales, so that you can see them.

Receipt Bank - but set it up properly
I see the comments on Receipt Bank not working but I disagree completely. We've been using it for a couple of years, and we and ourclients love it and it does save a great deal of time. We have also found the support to be great.
BUT be completely clear on your processes and take time to set the integration up properly (we link to Xero). It isn't going to work by itself, you need be clear on what you want it to do, and adjust the settings accordingly. There is also Receipt Bank 101 training, took us all less than an hour but absolutely essential.
Also support and guide your clients with what they need to do.
In terms of lost receipts - if clients are posting we always advise using the Receipt Bank envelopes and ALWAYS send special delivery, so you're not at the mercy of the post office!
You don't have to send each invoice/receipt separately either. If you upload directly into Receipt Bank you can choose to upload multiple receipts as 1 pdf.
Do invest in a good scanner, this will help, but you've still got all the work to do with extracting data. Receipt Bank are experts at this, so let them do it!
Happy to answer any questions.

Proving digital signatures
We use EchoSign for full accounts, abbreviated accounts and CT600s. We send to the client's email address, and password protect the documents. We and the clients then have a digitally signed copy of the documents, which we understand is acceptable.
EchoSign also provides a full audit trail of exactly the time the client has viewed and then signed the return, which we save and keep on file.

Love Receipt Bank
We've been using Receipt Bank for about a year and love it. More importantly our clients love it as it makes things so easy for them. We are processing receipts and invoices in less than a minute per document now, so it has saved a great deal of time too.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.

GoCardless is brilliant for online card payments. I've also just linked it to Directli to manage the whole direct debit process too. So easy, and very low cost. Both link straight to Xero too.

Companies House deadlines
Some great ideas here. I've also discovered companiesmadesimple.co.uk. Free tracking of all your limited company deadlines in one place. All you need is the company number and authentication code to import your companies. Then you can sort on deadlines. It integrates with Companies House so you're not relying on manually entered data. It's been a big help.

manage your client
I have a client who used to be like that. He complained because he expected to be able to speak to me every time he phoned. I was able to apologise and have a good chat, and now he knows I will get back to him as soon as I can, and I always do. He also complained about fees not long after I'd started working on a particular project, so again, I was able to have a good chat and explain what work had been done (he hadn't thought about the work I'd done after our meeting etc).
He's now really appreciative of what I do for him, and one of my best clients.
