An American client wanted to change his Place of Business to our UK address. He went into his on line account but it wanted the answer to a secret question he didnt know. He rang from the US spent an hour being passed to 4 different people with the upshot being he was told to complete a 64-8 for me to do it.
But i can't do it because HMRC don't have the 64-8 on file so we can't complete the security clearance. Then the client authorises me to complete returns o his behalf but the code goes to the Aberdeen office who then send it to him in the US by snail mail and guess what the 30 day activation period has expired.
I did try web chat but guess what "I can't talk to you because you haven't passed security".
HMRC wonder why agents give them such bad press!!

Pedantic I know
So you pay exorbitant rates to park on the road to save the VAT you van reclaim anyway? So I get my Latte and a sandwich and now when I claim my expenses I have to work out what VAT I can reclaim whereas if I sit in I can just reclaim 1/6 of the billGifts for employees - aren't they lucky to have a job?Don't most employers give staff the cash to buy their own car with the cost of BIF? also what about the biggest VAT error not claiming it back on mileage allowancesIf I entertain my overseas clients then there is no block, so I am better entertaining my overseas clients than my staff unless its the obligatory Xmas party and the spouses go.
It has been a long day and maybe I should just park my self drive hire car on the street rush into Starbucks grab a sandwich and a milk shake and tell my employee their Mocha and piece of cake is a business gift?
