R Bennyworth state in AccWeb webinar that HMRC stated that would have required a further two months work to involve Agents. The Government is terrified of fraud which sadly would include some unscrupulous agents. They may have seen this as away of clearing some debts or just take advantage. Many folk claiming Tax Credits will already have a Government Gateway account anyway.

Increases in mandated software are enough, on their own, to justify a rise in fees.

Directors, with no Service Contract, are Officers of the company and not employees.
As discussed elsewhere, on this site, they are a group of Self-Employed individuals.
I would not expect this group to be included in the Job Retention Scheme. I suggest you ask all your Director clients to see if they have a Service Contract. This is not recommended for low salary directors because it bring Minimum Wage legislation into play, therefore suspect many directors in the small company class will have no Service Contract.

As an Accountant offering professional accountancy services you should not keep way from dealing with affairs of Limited Companies. Companies House and other organisations place a great deal of free and easily obtainable information on the internet. I would recommend that you spend a day familiarizing yourself with all matters corporate which, will increase your confidence, knowledge and possibly your bank balance. Just be more confident in yourself.

The Keytime update arrived yesterday morning, but the download is so slow that my browser is fluctuating between three to sixteen hours for a 913mg download.
It is a ''known issue'' (they are working on it) apparently, IRIS have murdered Keytime from Oldham to Slough.

My Father in Law has a 'blue book'
It contains all his savings, utilities and well everything. His stock of old light bulbs is in there and it is adjusted every time a new bulb is required. He spends days in his little office carefully recording every transaction. He is in late eighties but it keeps him happy and moves his brain cells around. It is believed that the secret of the universe is in there somewhere. All people should have a 'blue book'

Log into Companies House for each client. Using an email address you can register for ereminders.
Companies House email a reminder when the Annual Confirmation Statement is due and when the Accounts are due. Providing you deal with these at the correct time, you will receive maximum 2,400 each emails per year. Where your 70-80 letters per day comes from leaves me very puzzled, unless you are not filing on time or filing at the last minute. Your charges appear more than adequate to delegate one employee to set this up and manage the emails. HMRC send a monthly list, in the post, of your company clients. You are most likely receiving the Notices to Deliver, a further 1,200 that can be distributed to the person dealing with client for filing on the Tax file. Not a great administrative problem.
