Had one this morning claiming a client has O/P £6k. They haven't.
I have one of these which is a good performer. Not ultrawide, standard 16:10 ratio, but QHD resolution.
Have you confirmed that there is, in fact, an issue other than your client's say so.
e.g. Was his partner definitely the lower earner in the relevant year?
TMA S8B(6)(b) may provide a way out.
It used to be the case that the RSO (Repayment Security Officer) had to turn around those checks in 48 hours to avoid holding up repayments.
My, how times have changed.
Ahh, yes. I think they called it "Joined Up Government".
Personally, I'd throw some figures together for him showing the full tax cost of his plan. BIK, rental income, CGT etc. That should vend him of his plan.
It's one of the improvements since the old style forums. Multiple clicks is multiple clicks. Who cares what the click does?
Of course they can, just as your client can refuse and force HMRC's hand. Surely you already have the necessary breakdown from when you prepared the Returns, so why play silly buggers and potentially incur higher penalties for your client than is necessary?
