Agreed. The test was in relation to the seiss grants. Furlough remains at 80% with an employer contribution of 10% and 20% in the last few months of the scheme.

Another example of needing an accountant. Didn't understand how vat worked yet didn't occur to him to seek someone who does. Beggers belief.

If this doesn't get pushed back or squashed, all we can do is explain to the client what's happening. (I've been telling clients for a while this was coming) explain why the need for fee increase, get them all on monthly d/d, give them a schedule of when info is due to be received, and leave them to it.
Im not about to chase 200 clients every 3 months for their work, they need to start taking responsibility.

Someone like that will most likely always query your fee based on it only being "tapping some buttons"

Sorry I probably didn't explain properly. I meant the 2nd discretionary fund. Most LAs including mine took that to mean only pay hospitality, leasure and retail.
So I wondered if this new injection was also discretionary on the same basis.

I wouldn't take a client on that said that to me. I'd see red and tell them to go do it thereselves.

"In addition, Sunak also rolled out a further £594m for local authorities and devolved administrations. These funds will support businesses not eligible for the one-off grant and those interested are encouraged to apply to their local authorities. "
And who qualifies for this? Because the last lot of local authority payments for tier restrictions were given and were told to prioritise hospitality, retail and leasure, is this new injection still for just those?

I'm up to date with everyone who's came in. The ones I'm not are those who have ignored my letters most likely because I'm last in the pecking order and they don't have the funds.
However an extension in my case would only lead to those people continuing to ignore me and quite frankly I'd rather not extend the deadline.
Not only does this allow me to put some pressure on those persistant last minute clients but it would actually help to regain some lost fees this year.
If we extend it a month, that will have a knock on affect to next year and those same people will probably be late once again. Its a no from me.

Can we all refrain from accusing people of not following lockdown measures or commenting on how the NHS could get overrun or how we can't get rid of the virus without a vaccine etc etc. Not only does it have sweet f a to do with the subject at hand but I'm personally sick of reading know it all's who just spout the party line like its written in stone and as gospel.
There are a few of us, who have actually studied the data and compared it to what the government are spewing out but luckly for some, we don't sit here preaching about it we simply get on with the matter at hand.
