Can I ask ... this has been effective for a couple of years now but is it only where using FRS102?
Is it also applicable if using FRSSE January 2015 (for accounts starting before 1st Janary 2016)?
So no one knows. Given HMRC's ineptitude I'm not really surprised.
Agreed .... this bit .....
Where the rental business is joint, and is not a partnership, there is a risk of it being applied, if the income allocation does not match the underlying capital ratio
.....I took "as read". Sorry if I assumed too much.
More or less as I thought, Duggimon.
That's bizarre Euan. Why would that be if you've been using that userID for so long? Mad.
In our case ... the person we spoke to at EBU said his system showed we had been entering the wrong password.
We had been entering the CORRECT password each time very carefully by hand (no copy and paste) to ensure it was NOT the problem.
Entered it again when on the phone and suddenly it all worked fine so must have been a glitch in their system somewhere.
And they want to increase the use of digital processes under MTD? They can't even handle what they want to achieve now let alone racking it up.
Rang EBU. Got it sorted. All fixed now. Thanks.
Ah....the old "musician's cramp". Sorry MC1 .... don't know.
I think this particular issue is now resolved.
Thank you all for your wonderful input and advice.
I agree that the level of income is not relevant to the legal considerations though.
My client earns a reasonably substantial amount although I doubt it's up in the "Eric Clapton" league.
After speaking to my client he reported as follows.
Mulling over all his options he decided NOT to opt for the private operation. He had a £200 consultation with a surgeon but, after speaking to fellow players who had undergone the procedure being proposed, decided against it as his colleagues didn't find it worked very well for them.
He decided "to let nature take its course" and all is well. The damage is healing without surgical intervention, just with physio.
So, after all, we are looking at the £200 cost only.
Thank you all again for your thoughts.
Thanks Basil. Yes, apologies for overlooking your point. I will consult with my client and reply here again.
As to the amount of money involved I believe it was several thousands (hence my concerns about claiming and the risks in so doing) but, again, I need to confirm with my client and let you know.
Thanks everyone for your views. All most helpful.
@Basil ... this guitarist is quite famous and has over 70 guitars.
Some are not in the business but most are and he uses his hands to play them all, of course.
So he treats some as "business" and some "private".
Does help / add to your view?
