Lets pray that this ill conceived idea is consigned to the bin forever. It is absolutely pointless and will achieve nothing for the government and just create pointless extra work for the self employed. A vote loser if I ever saw one
Slowly but surely HMRC are beginning to see sense. Their arguments for its introduction are totally flawed and do not stand up to scrutiny. As I have stated before I am all for using the latest technology but this MTD stuff that they are proposing is utterly pointless and I forecast a outcry( a la class 4 fiasco ) from the self employed when they begin to realise what they may be asked to do.
This MTD nonsense needs to be stopped. It will cause chaos. There will no benefit to anybody - the government will not gain extra revenue - more than likely they will lose revenue - people falling out of the system and going back into the black economy- the extra accountancy costs will reduce net profits and hence tax take will fall . The self employed will incur substantial extra costs for absolutely no benefit. I predict if this goes it ahead it will end up a complete shambles. The individuals concerned with its possible implementation have absolutely no idea of what is happening in the real world. At the moment I have not found one client who is aware of what HMRC is proposing and needless to say when I tell them their reaction is not printable.
Thus has all the makings of a monu mental disaster. I cannot for the life of me see how this is going to be of benefit to HMRC or taxpayers. HMRC have their heads in the cloud with this and have no idea of what goes on in the real world My prediction is that it will end up a total shambles.
This MTD is shaping up to be a monumental disaster . I cannot for the life of me see what the point of it is . Where on earth are these savings to businesses coming from - you don't need to be an accountant to see that there will be additional costs for businesses for absolutely NO benefit
Stayed up all night for the result - what a night - common sense prevailed at the end of the day - the Scottish electorate saw thro Alex Salmond's bluff and bluster. One good thing is that it has re-energised the Scots - I have never witnessed anything like it . I can only see things getting better for Scotland now that the threat of uncertainty has been removed. Companies will now be willing to invest again. I see a great future for Scotland now.
I am a Scottish CA and as far as I am concerned it would be a financial disaster for Scotland if we vote yes. If you wish to read a good fairy story read the SNP's White Paper - I have never read so much rubbish in my life - nothing can go wrong in Salmond land - trust me he says and everything will come up smelling of roses - no mention of the massive costs which would be incurred. For a so called trained economist Salmond conveniently forgets and ignores all the normal rules and laws of economics. I hope common sense prevails and that people will see through all the bluff and bluster. I will definately be recommending to all my clients to move their savings should the yes vote prevail. We Scots need to get rid of this huge chip on our shoulder. We all have the same aspirations whether we be Scots, English, Welsh ,or Irish.

I doubt very much if Whyte is even remotely interested - I am sure he will find ways round the ban
Great future ahead for Scotland
