On the basis that we are trying to use their Accounts Production Advance, which is a disgrace in terms of functionality & glitches, I don't hold out much hope for this!

Personally I'm horrified by this, as a large proportion of my clients will fall into this, and it's only through dealing with it all automatically & over the internet & via emails that my firm copes with last 3 months rush.
The thought of preparing a tax return using digita & then manually changing the tax calculation to give the right answer, printing the whole lot out & posting to the clients for signature waiting to get it back & then posting it to HMRC, and then waiting for ever for them to process it because they won't have enough staff (Never mind the high possibility of it all being lost in the post as happened to me one year!), just fills me full of dread.
Surely its not beyond their capabilities to correct the thing & get it sorted in the next few weeks, to avoid all this [***]!!!!!!!!
MTD - ho ho ho
Any one know where I can find the email address of the following:-
2)Secretary of State for the Treasury
3) Prime minister.
4) Daily Mail
5) Top 5 names in HMRC
As I want to let them know exactly how I feel about this
(Assuming its not an early April fools joke)

Back on the 18th October suddenly had 2SV applied to my log in for my normal agents services - a complete and utter pain, as I normally log in up to 30 times a day, so was greatly relieved when it was turned off after only a few hours. (luckily none of my staff use my login, but I suspect that even if they did the f'ing text would come to my mobile - which is seldom used for work - and I cannot find how to change on their website to another mobile number anyway!!!) But no communication from the Revenue about it what's so ever, and no trawling round their website found any additional information.
The Revenue & IT are becoming a farce and costing me money - do a clients Self assessment, as he is due a refund every year, despite only income being PAYE salary, only for them to issue a P800 and cheque last week, despite he self assessment and refund all happening in June!!! Will take an hour to sort and the client won't pay for Revenue errors - and nor will they.
No hope for MTD.
I also tried to set up & access my own Account - don't know why I bothered.

Fred, whilst one can have every bit of IT security in place under the sun( and at the time we thought we had!), it only took one dimwitted clerk to click on something she shouldn't have, to upload the virus.
The telephone solution actually moves to an effective non IT solution by taking part of the ID process away from the computer, eliminating the ability to hack and access information stored on the computer.
I'm not keen on it - but it would put a stop to the problem we had.

Having had our firm hacked a few years ago, (clerk downloaded a virus) allowing hacker to go in change agent details, bank details , client details etc, The hacker filed tax returns with refunds just under £5K, for clients who in the previous year had refunds, changed the bank details and claimed the refund - all before the end of April.
The Revenue picked up one and notified us, and I spent a weekend trawling through my clients & found another three.
So a high level of security is needed - but not sure that mobile phone is way to go, as I log on anything up to 5 times an hour, and the tinging of the phone could effect mental health.
As an aside - is anybody else looking at the "information to help complete your tax return" on the web site for clients - and finding it a load of rubbish - does not instill confidence for MTD when they cannot even upload state pension information correctly - do you think they'll be fining DWP?

Well, I think it's retrospective legislation of the worst kind.
I've inherited my part of my mothers house, which I will be converting from a useless 2 bedrooms to a 4 bedroom that I can sell, and now I'll be expected to pay income tax on it instead of CGT.
Frankly I think the taxman is already taking too big a chunk out of peoples pockets, and the government should look to reducing its spend, rather than carrying on [***] us in more and more devious ways.

They should have had a word with George before
, way, way, before he went public yesterday.
George is getting almost as good as Gordon was with smoke & mirrors, and the art of putting future legislation in today to be forgotten about tomorrow, fantastic!
A tax computation now will be a work of art, and I hope Digita will be up to it - as we know the Revenue won't :-)

fraud is currently too easy
Speaking as some one who recently had one of our passwords nicked (I think via a key logger downloaded by a staff member down loading something she shouldn't have) and a couple of fake returns filed by the crook with resultant tax refunds being sent to new nominees bank accounts, it seems that something needs to be done at the Revenue end. Also at the banks end as the bank accounts were patently fraudulent.
However what ever is done should not make our life more difficult as had enough with RTI.
The thought of the post office or the other organisations prooving ID's makes one shudder!!

Another State Liability Con
Before 1983, sick pay was paid by the state, then, as an administrative simplyfication it was paid on the States behalf by the the employer & recouped out of the NI contributions.
Then, the reclaim was reduced in 1991, then further reduced in 1994/95.
And now the goverment has suceeded in pushing the whole lot on to the poor bloody employer.
Notice no reduction in NI contributions, which were set up to pay for this.
Why there has been no riots on the street - Poll Tax Style - is beyond me.
