There may not be another accountant. Give client the draft tax return figures and he can file a return himself.
The 'other' accountant could just be an excuse not to pay you.
Thanks guys, I thought I'd be out of my depth.
Can you recommend who would be best in this matter - accountant or solicitor?
Or is there anyone on Aweb perhaps?
You shouldn't have clicked on any links in the email. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive-by_download
"Drive-by downloads may happen when visiting a website, opening an e-mail attachment or clicking a link..."
If you suspect a scam, hover over the link and the real link should be displayed, or right-click and copy the address to notepad.
In this case the scammers used 'imicampaign.uk' to acheive the https (s= secure) address.
Searching for imicampaign brought up
"IMIcampaign is a multi-channel campaign management platform that enables you to deliver tailored, personalised content to defined target audiences. It provides the ability to schedule, automate and manage your messages consistently across all of your digital communication channels with two way interactions and rich analytics and reporting."
It's a very convincing scam for the unwary ... not like the previous scams with obvious errors to weed out the gullible.
The property was bought many years ago for occasional use, so it would be a capital gain. Not the client's main home.
UK resident.
No CGT payable as it's the only gain this year and <£10k (sorry I mis-worded the question).

Sorry, I meant I'd not done any 2023 SATRs yet.
Well spotted, that man!
Thank you.
My return was submitted in Sept 2022.

I received two similar emails today but to an email address not known to HMRC.
There is a link to "View in browser", and the underlying link is to https://hmrc.imicampaign.uk/seeemailinfull/EmailServlet?....
