Yes, this is very confusing. I managed, with difficulty and much non-chargeable time, to register a complex estate. My new User ID and new password get me logged in but, like someone else mentioned, I have a Gateway Agent ID that appears to be of no use. Another headache all round I'm afraid.
Thanks for your prompt reply lionofludesch but its the revoking bit that puzzles me. Possibly the transfer is only needed for 1 year, 2015-2016, who can be sure when dealing with self-employed profits. But now that the transfer has been made for 2015-2016 how does the transferor revoke it from 06 April 2016 now that we have reached February 2017 and HMRC appear (to me) to say if revoked now the transfer will be in place until 05 April 2017. Am I reading the HMRC notes incorrectly?
Yes, yesterday's HMRC webinar was the first time I was aware that the 45p per mile mileage expense did not apply. PIM 2210 sets this out. All my searches online show that the contributors expect the 45p/25p to apply. Strange? Do we have to rely on an HMRC "concession"? I note Steve Kesby's use of the word "may".
Client and wife leave UK to work in USA for at least three years. That's the plan but who knows? They let their unfurnished UK home. Rent receivable in total will never equal two UK personal allowances. Losses are unlikely to occur and if did arise there is no other UK property owned or let. Why the UK Tax Return and non-resident rigmarole? There is no other UK income.
Using HMRC Basic Tools and filed 2012-2013 P35 alright; last night 10pm. Downloaded the HMRC RTI Basic Tools for 2013-2014 and transfered the information across from 2012-2013. Did first week's pay on 09 April for actual payday of 11 April and hit submit; fail, check dates of birth, fail, check names, fail, check National Insurance numbers, fail! All correct as far as we are concerned. Got a "computer speak" error message from HMRC.
Another client with more than 9 employees who purchased Sage. Guess what? It wasn't compatible with her computer. Went out and bought a new computer. How should I explain the "saving" she will have as a result of RTI?
Moonbeam many thanks for your reply. In this case there will be no more PAYE etc to pay to HMRC but HMRC will need to refund Statutory Maternity Pay to the employer. It doesn't seem right that a penalty could be incurred, and that is why I raised the question, but of course you never know. There is a paragraph on the HMRC site entitled "amending your return after you've filed it" and that is where the quote written in the question comes from.
Thanks to you both. MBK is correct, the purchase I am thinking about will be out of distributable profits. HMRC Tax Bulletin 21 (going back a bit but still in use) explains the loan position and we are alright there. Net result is Capital and Reserves reduced by £56,000.
Thanks to you all. Since my original post I have not been back to the client's office until today. I tried occca's solution and can confirm that it was successful. A Sage bug!
Thanks for the prompt replies. No errors or warnings on the Data Check. I have to leave client's office just now so I will check occca's suggestion another day. Will keep you posted.

P35 penalties
Thanks to you too ash428. The amendment needs done so I suppose there is a possibility that we may have to battle it out with HMRC in due course.
Could/should a penalty be charged?
