I've just come off of an online chat with HMRC with several questions ready. The agent chat line was "unavailable" because they were busy so only one question could be answered.....
By a nice coincidence, Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone" came on my playlist during the chat.
Update - just had this answer at the end of a webchat:
"We are currently working on an Agent Dedicated webchatservice but at the moment the method you have used is the only way to get through to a webchat advisor."
I moved the other way (sole trader to Ltd) and was given new codes for SA, CT & PAYE and had to move all clients over individually (sending requests from new login)- it was a lot of admin and chasing clients for numerous codes each.
You need to ask HMRC for that number, otherwise on future 64-8s (or equivalent) you'll still have to use your dissolved company name.
It's definitely "quirky". I have several NatWest/Mettle clients who use it because it's free to them.
I don't want to use Freeagent for my client CT600 submissions, CT or CA comps but there's no way to turn it off so I have ended up doing it twice (Freeagent and my other software) so that they match.
An annoying and potential GDPR issue is that on the opening accountant's screen, next to the list of clients is their current bank balance. It serves no use whatsoever but something to bear in mind if you are with a client and want to give a bit of training or demo. I've had to ask them to turn around whilst I log in!
But for a simple bookkeeping system for a limited number of transactions it's not bad!
Full day in the (home) office today. I had a holiday last week to celebrate my wife's birthday (with her I hasten to add!) so sacrificed celebrating JC's birthday too.
Getting lots done & submitted - the phones are very quiet!
Online at HMRC the accounting dates appeared correct and as expected. A quick phone call (after the obligatory long wait in the queue) to HMRC tells me that their records are the same as mine. "The notices must have been issued in error".
I've been using AM for nearly 12 months, having moved from a "system" similar to yours. There's a lot of work to start with, importing and checking the data (but that would be the same with any system I suppose) but I'm so glad I did. There are a lot of variables to go through and get right and learning how to tweak it to work how you want can be time-consuming, but rewarding once you get it right.
I'm a sole practitioner with 150ish clients and don't know how I managed before. Their customer service responds quickly although I've not had any major issues, just finding how to work things. Auto-generated emails are great although I've turned off the auto-send as it does produce a lot, some unnecessary in some circumstances. With their recent acquisitions, I'm looking forward to further integrations with their other packages (payroll, tax/accounts production). AML integration works well.

Occasionally pointing out to a client that their driving licence is out of date.
Makes it all worth it

Thanks for the comments.

Many thanks for the various replies. Plenty to think about and put into practice.
Hopefully a coincidence, but I've had one of the replies since posting the question!
Thank you - I suspected it wouldn't be black or white, but at least there are a specific list of conditions to meet.
