Mercia Group sold to Wilmington Plc

Training providers Mercia Group have been taken over by Central Law Training (CLT), a subsidiary of Wilmington Group plc, in a deal that is ultimately worth 11.5m.

Merica Group Limited was established in 1979, and is well known to many accountants as a popular and successful provider of continuing professional education, development, and publisher. The company has a client base of some 4,000 accountancy practices and over 1,000 subscription clients. Its turnover in the year ending 30 June 2006 was 6.35m, with an operating profit of 687k.
