PAYE online goes offline from Wednesday until Monday

HMRC's PAYE Online services will be suspended from 10pm on Wednesday evening until 6am on Monday morning while upgrade work takes place. John Stokdyk reports.

With in-year filing of P46 and other forms due to become mandatory for firms with more than 50 employees from 6 April 2009, the department is re-engineering the online filing mechanisms to cope.

Those who rely on HMRC's built-in filing software will not be able to submit in-year PAYE forms online while the upgrade takes place and are advised by the department to store forms until the service is restored or to make urgent submissions on paper. As with August upgrades elsewhere on HMRC's website, people who use third party applications will be able to continue filing returns from their payroll programs, but will experience delay...

Which Monday?

It is now Tuesday afternoon and having spoken to the helpline they simply have no idea when it will be restored

They did apologise for any inconvenience caused
