One of the headaches for parents who receive working tax credits and have the opportunity of receiving childcare vouchers from thoughtful employers is that you do need the legendary degree in rocket science technology to calculate whether you are better off accepting one of the other. The choice becomes even harder when you may have the option of receiving vouchers as part of a salary sacrifice scheme.

Now the rocket science team at HM Revenue & Customs have put together an on-line calculator to help you decide whether you would be better off receiving tax credits or, instead, taking childcare vouchers from your employer to help you with your childcare costs. Are these related to paper rounds and Saturday jobs or are they reopening some mines and sending 'the little ones' down?
