UK/Belgium double taxation treaty protocol begins

A tax agreement between the UK and Belgium to avoid taxpayers being taxed twice came into force last month.

The Protocol to the Double Taxation Convention between the UK and Belgium was signed in Paris on 24 June 2009 and began on 24 December 2012.

The protocol updates the exchange of information article of the convention to bring it into line with current OECD standards and practice.
