Accountant jailed for £50,000 fraud

A Northern Irish chartered accountant has been jailed for six months for stealing £50,000 from clients to fund her gambling addiction.

Lisa Carville of County Down had worked in Peter O’ Hare Accountants since she was 19. According to the Belfast Telegraph, she carried out the fraud between January 2010 and September 2012 to fund her online gambling addiction.

During this time, Carville reportedly took 55 cheques worth £60,000 from clients, which were for their tax bills. But one was not cashed, so the total fraud came to £50,000.
