HMRC has run a pilot training course where HMRC compliance staff and agents learn jointly about the new compliance process. This was run in South West London on 1 May 2009, and was organised through the Working Together arrangements. The three hour event provided attendees with a technical summary of the compliance checks and penalties regime, and explored the practical implications for compliance officers and agents.

The session was very well received, and more events are planned. These will commence in October 2009, and will be of interest to agents who:

  • Want to know more about compliance checks (including Corporation Tax, Self Assessment and VAT).
  • Need to understand how tax penalties are calculated under the new legislation.

but only for some areas
Just telephoned the bummber above (in croydon). I was advised there are no worshops planned for NE Surrey (Croydon) or Sussex. Lets hope this changes
