Revenue loses Nectar loyalty scheme battle

Loyalty management company Aimia Group, which runs the Nectar loyalty card scheme in the UK, has won a legal battle over a £27.2m VAT dispute with HMRC.

After more than a decade of litigation and going through every UK court, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Aimia.

The final judgement, Revenue and Customs v Aimia Coalition Loyalty UK [2013] UKSC 42, was issued late last month.
