Hard-hitting, fast-paced dubstep might not be the first choice of music genre for accountants, but for one firm, it’s essential tax season listening.

Berg Kaprow Lewis in London has created a viral video, clocking up more than 34,000 hits on YouTube, showing one of their accountants poker-facedly doing tax returns to dubstep artist Skrillex’s "Bangarang".

The video shows practice newcomer Daniel Li d...d...d...dropping the figures as he speedily gets through tax returns, making that essential cup of tea with digestives, waiting for the photocopier and routinely giving his Cliff Richard calendar the occasional glance.

The viral video is a collaboration between the firm and comedy writer Daniel Berg, posted on YouTube on 31 January to coincide with the tax return deadline.

Reminding one somewhat strongly of Mark Lee's catchphrase 'Boring is Optional', firm partner Myfanwy Neville said the video was created to show a lighter side to the "traditional accounting stereotype".

"We love getting involved with things that are a bit different to the norm, so this sounded right up our street," she said.

Hardcore number cruncher Li said it was great to be in the video, but doesn't recommend eating a whole digestive in one go.

“It was great to see the finished video and it’s incredible how it’s exploded across the various social networks," he said.

“Never did I imagine that joining Berg Kaprow Lewis would give me the opportunity to star in a viral. Filming took just under two hours and it was a lot like working here: challenging, fun and rewarding."

To see the video, check it out in our Time Out discussion group. It's best to put the earphones in though, first...
