David Gauke, exchequer secretary to the Treasury, has agreed to review a series of proposals submitted by BDO on changes to the tax regime for medium-sized businesses.
After BDO ran a workshop with a number of tax bodies held in the back end of 2012, a meeting was offered to BDO and is now expected to happen later this month or early February.
The Treasury will study two key measures following calls for an overhaul from many in the profession and discussions with medium-sized companies who have felt sidelined in the wider corporation tax debate.
BDO came up with the following two proposals for mid-sized companies:
