International Nurses Day 2021: Tax relief for NHS workers

According to NHS Digital in April 2020 there were 296,008 nurses in the NHS in England. There is no doubt that we all are grateful for the contributions nurses around the world have made, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. 

Many of us have thanked the NHS, by staying at home, standing at our doorsteps to clap for the NHS, or joining in support when NHS staff including nurses asked the Government for a well-deserved pay rise (greater than the proposed 1%).

Professional membership fees and subscriptions

Employees who have incurred costs for professional fees can obtain a deduction from their earnings, provided the following two conditions are met:

  1. The fee incurred needs to relate to the duties of the employment carried on.
