Although it's only six months since the inaugural Accountex conference and exhibition last year, the next one is just around the corner.

Accountex is a great event to get you up to speed on what’s new, what’s changing, what’s working and what isn’t. Aimed at accountants in practice and business, the organisers tell us that last year’s event was very successful but that they have responded to feedback and moved the timing to a more appropriate month. They have also started planning for 2014!

Accountex 2013 takes place at London's ExCel centre on 6-7 June and tickets booked in advance are free of charge, giving you access to more than 100 exhibitors and dozens of CPD training opportunities. Not least of these are the sessions being presented by our own John Stokdyk and Mark Lee.

Many other friends of AccountingWEB are also speaking at Accountex, including Rebecca Benneyworth, James Scanlan, Kevin Salter, Richard Messik, Steve Collings, deputy editor Robert Lovell and community correspondent Rachael Power. There are sessions on accounting and tax planning, the latest cloud technology, marketing for accountants, and client management – in fact on almost every topic we address on AccountingWEB.

In total Accountex will showcase more than 120 seminars. And all for free. This reflects a similar approach to knowledge sharing as the one we adopt at AccountingWEB. Accountants can access all of our main articles, blogs and facilities free of charge too.

Thursday 6 June

If you attend Accountex on 6 June you have three opportunities to hear our consultant practice editor, Mark Lee, speak. Choose wisely and arrive early if you want to be sure to secure a seat.

  • 10.00-10.45 – Mark will be in the Intuit software theatre talking about marketing your practice using online and social media
  • 11.00-11.45 – Mark will run over to the ICAEW theatre where he will be talking about how to harness the power of social media for career success
  • Then, after a well deserved rest, at 16.00 he will be presenting a brand new talk in the Keynote theatre: 'Boring is Optional - You need to stand out to succeed'

If you are a regular reader of Mark’s articles on AccountingWEB you will want to take this opportunity to hear him speak.

Also on Thursday, at 16.00, Robert Lovell and Rachael Power will be speaking about the challenges faced by today's small practitioner, as part of a CPAA workshop.

Friday 7 June

If you attend on 7 June, Mark Lee will be repeating his talks in the Intuit and ICAEW theatres at 10am and 11am.

And at 2pm on Friday our editor John Stokdyk will be talking about his vision for the future of accountancy in the Sage software theatre. Again, we know that many of John’s fans will want to be there to hear him speak.

Full details of Accountex 2013 are available here where you can also order your free tickets.

Will be there Friday but only because....

someone not exhibiting wants me to suss out the opposition and The Business Start Up show is on at the same time.  Think I spent 2 hours in Accountex last year and 4 in the Start Up bit next door, main benefit being it's got lots of normal people and most of the hype seems constructive.

Shame John S is talking in the S*** theatre, I won't have any garlic with me so will miss it.

Yes, I know, but it's what happens when you spend decades as an accountant, you just don't know how to enjoy yorself anymore.....with thousands of other accountants :-(

Date of the conference

Dear Sir/Madam,

Could you explain why you choose this date? ACCA students are completing their exams at this time around and maybe some of us would have like to attend the conference.

Did you not take this into account when you planned the seminar?

Regards

Anita Andor

We were not told.

Hi

We were not told about ACCA holding their exams at the same venue on the same days until a few weeks ago. However we would not of been able to change the date as we hold the show at the same time as The Business Show.

You are welcome to come and visit Accountex before or after your exams. It is taking place directly next door in the next hall.

Kind regards

Scott Hider - Accountex Event Director.

OCRex at Accountex

Accountex was a great success this year. With an extra 1000 accountants through the door compared to last year!!! There were 3760 delegates attending over the two days which is fantastic.

OCRex was exhibiting there for the second year. Our team performed over 120 demonstrations of AutoRec and signed up lots of new customers. We have already booked our place for 2014.

Well done to the organisers Prysm Group. Looking forward to next year already.

Apologies

Hi Paul,

Apologies my screen froze as I was entering a comment. The two comments then were published. I can't seem to delete one of the comments. I have emailed accounting web to see how I can delete one of my comments. Obviously looks terrible that I have said the same thing twice.

Sorry,

Karen
