Digita kicks off cloud crusade
Thomson Reuters has officially launched its new flagship cloud brand called Onvio. According to Digita, Onvio integrates “seamlessly” with the existing Digita software stable.
The Onvio brand is spearheaded by a triumvirate of main features. First is Onvio Documents, a cloud portal and document exchange that allows accountants to share and source client documents. Complimenting this is Onvio Client Centre (covered previously). This client portal will be used for document exchange and collaboration, allowing features like e-signatures.
The last component of Onvio’s feature trinity is Time and Billing. As the name suggests, this is to track time and expenses. Digita has also said users will be able to create invoices and provide accounts-receivable tracking.
Digita will be displaying Onvio at next week’s Accountex event. AccountingWEB will get a hands-on look at Onvio’s full offering and report back the latest.

FreeAgent launches fingerprint authentication
FreeAgent has announced a new fingerprint authentication security feature for its iOS and Android mobile apps.
Smart phone users already use fingerprint technology to access their phone or verify payments. FreeAgent users can now use this technology to log in on their mobiles using this extra layer of security instead of relying on a password.
In order to activate this, users should open the settings menu in FreeAgent Mobile on their device, hit the ‘Security’ option, and check the ‘Enable touch ID’ for iOS or ‘Enable fingerprint authentication’ for Android is on.
The next time you access the app, you will need to authenticate with your fingerprint or re-enter your password. Users will be free to use other apps while FreeAgent Mobile is open, but once a set time period has finished, users will have to re-authenticate with a fingerprint or password.
However, users are not bound by this new functionality, and can continue using their password if they wish.
