A new product designed to extract data from SAP systems into Microsoft Excel heralds the arrival on the European scene of yet another management reporting toolset. John Stokdyk reports
Founded in California in 1989, Symtrax has developed an Excel-based Dashboard system that extracts data from accounting and operational systems to feed performance graphs, tables and charts directly into a web browser.
The latest development, the StarQuery for Excel (SAP Edition) makes KPI and ad hoc management reporting accessible to users of SAP's R/3 (mySAP) and All-in-One ERP systems without requiring them to run data extraction routines. The software costs 13,600 for a 20-user pack, equivalent to 700 per SAP seat. An expert user editon, StartQuery SAP Designer, is available for 2,100.
