Test version launched for new Excel reconciliation tool

Former management accountant Jim Johnson has turned his hand to programming to create Isolist, an Excel-based reconciliation tool for accountants. John Stokdyk reports.

"Reconciliation is a perennial task that accountants do," Johnson told AccountingWEB. "Throughout my career, I tackled it in different ways - often sitting with colleagues reading out numbers and ticking them off a report.

"Or if the data was in a spreadsheet, you could sort it, index it and use Vlookup or match in some other way. Essentially, it's a tedious task, but it requires a bit of skill in Excel to do."
