BTCSoftware and Pixie form workflow allianceby

Award-winning tax and practice software specialist BTCSoftware has teamed up with the cloud CRM and practice management developer Pixie to offer enhanced communication and workflow tools to its customers.
The alliance with relative newcomer Pixie fits into BTCSoftware’s strategy to form partnerships with other app developers, explained head of alliances Andrew Ross.
“Workflow is what everyone is hollering for at the moment, but our practice management solution is more of a client database, not a fully blown system with workflow.
“We’ve got enough on our plate with compliance work, so we decided we weren’t going to build out practice management into other areas,” Ross told AccountingWEB.
Having reviewed the cloud contenders, BTCSoftware lighted on Pixie as a good, cost-effective solution for the small practice market.
As well as having a “great open API” that would let users step seamlessly from one program to the other, the alliance was as much about chemistry, Ross continued.”The Pixie people have a similar philosophy and approach to how they work. They have a willingness to share ideas and make it a proper partnership. That stuff is important.”
Full details on the partnership are available in BTCSoftware's Industry Insights article.
How integration works
Pixie is available on a monthly subscription fee of £49 for unlimited users. It connects to the firm’s email inbox with tools to manage the flow and trigger appropriate follow-up actions.
Within the linked systems, Pixie can set up a sequence of actions and reminder email templates for the client to retrieve their data and seek approval for the final return. Staff can also submit the return within Pixie to maintain a full audit trail of all the steps involved in preparing and filing the return.
Pixie CEO Celso Pinto commented: “Our partnership streamlines and automates the preparation, review and approval processes. It saves between 10-20 minutes on each tax return. It's the difference between finishing early or having late evening towards the end of January.”
Having a client communication system was a fundamental requirement for BTCSoftware, according to Ross. “We’ll have that ready for the tax season. After that, we intend to continue the process. There’s a lot more we could be doing with this alliance. We’re getting good input from our existing shared users and we’re having conversations with a few other potential partners in the practice software market,” he said.
“There are a few other things to come.”
