Glide started life as a specialist workflow engine, adding tools such as time recording, scheduling and email automation to grow into a complete cloud practice management software suite.

The incident that inspired accountant and Glide co-founder Ben Norwell to move into software development was discovering his team had lost track of a tax return that had been sitting in the firm’s in-tray for four months.

“I wanted to create an incredibly simple visual mechanism for work throught the practice that placed a minimum requirement on the accountant to do anything,” said Norwell. Glide was the result.

Since its arrival on the cloud software scene in 2013, Glide has been extended with new capabilities to become a more general practice management software system.

Product overview

With 170+ user firms, Glide is a flexible engine that handle any practice process that needs tracking. The templates provided and any custom workflows can be configured to fit the firm’s current business processes and plans for the future.

At the manager/partner level Glide offers customisable graphical dashboards that ensure they have a constant overview of job progress, targets, deadlines and priorities.

Glide has been designed to run in tandem with existing tax and practice suites and can integrate with CCH and Digita as well as the Xero cloud accounting system. To cater for smaller firms that do not have other practice management tools, Glide has been expanded into a more general practice management offering.

Starting at £39/month for firms with up to five users, Glide’s pricing may be high for some smaller practices, but the application has carved out a niche for itself among practices wanting integrated and seamless control of their internal workflows.
