Humanforce tackles ‘complicated payroll’

Accountex 2016 saw the arrival of Humanforce, a cloud workforce management solution catering for the more demanding end of the market.

While Humanforce allows users to install the software on their own or Humanforce’s servers, the cloud version is most appropriate for small businesses, the company said. At the London event, Humanforce was particularly keen for accountants running payroll bureaux to embrace the cloud version.

Humanforce’s USP is its ability to deal with complicated payroll, according to head of marketing Lucy Whittington. “That is shifts, casual, seasonal, temp and agency employees. These workers can be managed within the software and the user can manipulate pay rates, awards, bonuses etc.”

Another neat feature is the ability to pay active staff only. “You might have say 300 people on the system, but if only 100 worked in the time period then you only pay for those 100 you put through payroll that run,” Whittington said.

Movemybooks: A self-drive conversion service

Long time AccountingWEB member Adrian Pearson’s cloud conversion service Movemybooks has launched what he is calling a “self-drive conversion service”.

Previously, Movemybooks asked clients to send a backup file and then, as Pearson explained, “You would wait a few days for us to convert it and get back to you”.

“Now you can upload and convert the data at your desk, at a time to suit you. Setting up and initiating a conversion will typically take 10 minutes and it will usually complete in a couple of hours,” said Pearson.

The software extracts the data from Sage or QuickBooks using its “extractor app”. Then, explained Pearson, “Setup a new destination account (a new Xero organisation or QuickBooks company) and authorise the transfer from Movemybooks to the destination.” When the conversion is completed, the software sends an automated email.

Xero adds report filters

The Kiwi cloud giant Xero has added report filters to many of the reports within the software.

The filters, Xero said, will allow advisors to more effectively manipulate the data within spreadsheets and reports.

An example report filter is the aged receivables detail report which breaks down outstanding debtors into chunks. Another is filter by seen: “Chase your customers that you know have opened their online invoices but haven’t yet paid you,” said Xero in a statement.

The other filters are filter by contact group (or specific single contact) and inventory item details report.

Xero improvements to reports are very welcome. I wonder whether they've fixed the problem of credit notes being added to invoices yet.
