You know a trend is about to go mainstream when it gets its own fortnight…
For the past few months, AccountingWEB has become aware of something called “fintech” stirring on the fringes of accounting.
The phenomenon appears to have shifted up a gear with news that the ICAEW is opening its doors to host a seminar this morning celebrating Fintech Fortnight 2017.
“It feels like everyone is talking about fintech, but knowing how it could benefit you and your business, and the potential risks involved, takes time to understand,” said ICAEW financial services assurance manager Philippa Kelly, summarising some of the uncertainties in our minds.
Fintech Fortnight has been running since 6 Feburary and will finish on the 19th. We’d love to tell you a little more about about what fintech involves and what you can find out during the fortnight, but details are a little hard to come by.
If you are free today, the ICAEW event will feature fintech experts and representatives from Nationwide Building Society and ICAEW who will look at the future of fintech and its likely impact on businesses and consumers.
